Background and Description

Night Is Coming, suitable for the youngest of ears, is a bedtime story about a farmer and his granddaughter watching the effects of the evening sky on the land around them as the orange globe of the sun sets in the western sky. The story reflects my time growing up in Texas where nature had a powerful effect on my sensibilities. When readers ask where I got my sense of rhythm, I always reply, "From nature, not from books." Night Is Coming reflects the natural cadence of the land and its inhabitants during a beautiful autumn sunset.

Reviews

Captures the piercing beauty of a rural sunset. . . .The glowing paintings are the perfect accompaniment for [the] musical , nostalgic text. —Publishers Weekly

. . . as a Kindergarten teacher, I find this book very useful to help the children imagine the breeze blowing agasint their cheek and to imagine hearing the sounds of the story. It's a great book to bolster the imagination and vocabulary of a child. —Amazon 5-Star Review
