Gyroscope Books is a book imprint I created several years ago in order to publish books in both paperback and eBook formats. The idea came to me while I was talking to some friends, many of them visual or graphic artists. As I looked around, I saw enough creative power in the room that I began to dream about putting this power to work on unrealized book projects. In that moment, Gyroscope Books was born.
The books are designed by Tom Greensfelder of Greensfelder Design in Chicago and printed by CreateSpace, an Amazon subsidiary. The physical books are print-on-demand paperback copies and the eBook version is available as a Kindle eBook. Individual and small orders are available from Amazon. For larger orders, please see the ordering suggestions at the bottom of this webpage.

Dear Frank: Babe Ruth, the Red Sox, and the Great War is a piece of
historical fiction for the middle grade and young adult reader. The story follows a series of letters written by one brother to
another during the latter part of 1918. It's the last year of World
War I and the Boston Red Sox, with Babe Ruth on the mound, are going to
the World Series. Andrew, at home in the Boston area, writes to his
older brother, Frank, a soldier on Europe's western front, to catch him
up on all the news. In press.

Hey, Aren't You the Janitor?
|
| Hey, Aren't You the Janitor: And Other Tales from the Life of a Children's Book Author is a collection of stories about my travels as an author for young readers. I've been
keeping a journal for two decades on my visits to
schools as an author. The title comes from a visit to a kindergarten
class where one of the students thought I was the school janitor.
You'll find a lot to
laugh about in this book. 45 pp. Available as a paperback ($9.99) or Kindle eBook ($5.99) from Amazon. ISBN 978-1453667392.

Dragonfly: A Childhood Memoir
|
I've wanted to write about my childhood growing up in Texas in
the early 1960s, and I finally did in Dragonfly: A Childhood Memoir.
It was not a particularly positive time in my life, but it
was one that left a deep
impression on me. As such, Dragonfly is not a book for young
readers as its content, although not explicitly graphic, is
provocative. I would recommend it for the middle grade and up reader. 64 pages. Available as a paperback ($9.99) and Kindle eBook ($5.99) from Amazon. ISBN 9781450595605
